At the Airport

Most domestic airlines require you to be at check-in at least 45-60mins prior to departure. Please check with the airline you are travelling with for more specific check-in requirements as check-in times vary between the airlines.

For information on check-in baggage allowances, please contact the airline you are flying with direct as each airline has its own baggage allowances. Airlines often include this information on your itinerary and on their website.

Carry on baggage

Some items are classified as prohibited items, weapons and dangerous goods that cannot be carried on board an aircraft. For more information, please visit the Federal Government's Department of Home Affairs. 

There is free Wi-Fi available for your convenience inside the terminal.

In the terminal

Departures and arrivals are located on the ground floor, so our passengers and visitors with a disability can move through the terminal with ease.

If you require specific assistance whilst inside the terminal, such as a wheelchair, you can prearrange this with your airline. Your airline can also help with reserving tickets, baggage handling and other needs you may have during transit.

There is an ATM located in the Arrivals Hall at Ballina Byron Gateway Airport.

Public toilets, disabled toilets and a parents room are located in the arrivals and departure lounge of the airport.

Lost items in the terminal

For items left in the terminal contact MSS Security on 0401 776 230 or complete the online form. 

Lost items on an aircraft

If you have left something on the aircraft you travelled on, please contact the airline you were travelling with directly.
