Parking

Car parking at Ballina Byron Gateway Airport is conveniently located at the front of the terminal building. Both Short Stay and Long Stay parking areas are only a short stroll from the terminal. The Long Stay Car Park is fenced and includes undercover spaces.

The airport carpark is being upgraded and parking is limited. Passengers are encouraged to arrange alternate transport and allow extra travel time.

The Airport carpark upgrade is progressing well and construction works have commenced to expand the airport terminal to accommodate new security screening equipment and improve access for passengers entering the departure lounge. An additional 100 carparking spaces will be provided as part of this upgrade project. The airport carpark upgrade is expected to be completed late February 2022 (weather and site conditions permitting).

Parking spaces have temporarily been reduced. Passengers are encouraged to arrange alternate transport and arrive at the airport earlier to avoid being inconvenienced by traffic delays and parking changes.

During the current phase of works the following arrangements will be:

  • one-way traffic flow into and out of the main airport precinct
  • enter the airport via the new slip road entrance turning left off Southern Cross Drive or turn left at the new Airport Boulevard roundabout
  • exit the airport via the new roundabout on Airport Boulevard
  • set down and pickup areas in front of the terminal (maximum 2 minutes, vehicles not to be left unattended, fines apply)
  • overnight/long-term parking  is limited while shade and solar panel structures are installed
  • upgraded rental car area now operating (as shown below)
  • new taxi/shuttle bus/rideshare zone now operating
  • Airport Boulevard is now open to through traffic.

Bookings cannot be taken for either the Short or Long Stay Car Parks.

Accessible parking for mobility impaired persons is available in the Short Stay Car Park. The spaces have been located to ensure easy access to pathways leading to the terminal building.

The airport has dedicated areas for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs directly in front of the terminal.

Attended vehicles are able to remain in the drop off area for up to two minutes whilst unloading passengers. Due to aviation security requirements vehicles must not be left unattended at any time. Any vehicle left unattended will be subject to an immediate fine.

You may collect passengers waiting for you at the front of the terminal building but only if all passengers are kerbside and ready to depart with all their baggage. Parking is not permitted outside the terminal at any time.

Convenient parking facilities are located directly opposite the terminal with stays of up to two hours for only $2.00.
Flight arrival and departure times can be checked online before leaving home should you wish to avoid unnecessary waiting.

Parking machines accept credit cards and coins but do not accept notes.

Please purchase a ticket and display it on your dashboard. The ticket must be visible whilst vehicle is parked.

The main gate for the Long Term Car Park automatically closes and locks at 9pm and reopens at 5am. In the event of delayed flights, airline staff are able to access the car park. Otherwise a call-out fee of $80 will apply for after-hours access.
